A sermon is an oration, lecture, or talk by a member of a religious institution or clergy. Sermons address a Biblical, theological, religious, or moral topic, usually expounding on a type of belief, law or behavior within both past and present contexts. Elements of the sermon often include exposition, exhortation and practical application.
The purpose of the sermon is to deliver the word of God in a way that it can be applied to your daily living. Isaiah 55:10–11 emphasizes the power that the Lord has invested in His revelation. The word that goes forth from the mouth of our Creator—which is Scripture, as Scripture is “God-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16–17)—cannot fail to accomplish the Lord’s purposes for it.
